UO Seasons Overview
UO Seasons Overview
UO Seasons is a classic Ultima Online shard based on the Publish 15 era, running under a PvE ruleset with a focus on fresh starts, accessibility, experimentation, and repeatable opportunity.
Unlike a permanent shard, UO Seasons operates as a series of independent seasons. Each season begins from a clean state, restoring the early-game environment where characters are new, the economy has not yet accumulated years of wealth, and every player begins without a pre-established material advantage.
Seasons will remain a PvE shard. Individual seasons may introduce new features, systems, themes, or other changes, but the underlying PvE identity remains constant.
Characters, possessions, and housing reset between seasons, but not everything is lost. The Seasonal Identity system allows players to preserve an established character identity across seasons, while the Seasonal Points and Awards system provides persistent recognition for accomplishments earned over time.
The result is a shard that can change from season to season while retaining a consistent foundation.
Core Rules
- 1 account per IP
- 5 characters per account
- 1 house per account
- 225 stat cap
- 700 skill cap
- PvE / Trammel ruleset
- Publish 15 era (pre-Age of Shadows)
- Mounts enabled
Seasonal Structure
UO Seasons operates on a cyclical model, with each season lasting approximately three months and resetting on a fixed schedule aligned with the equinoxes and solstices.
At the conclusion of each season:
- All characters are reset
- All items and gold are removed
- All houses are cleared
Each new season begins from a clean state.
This reset is fundamental to the Seasons model. Wealth, equipment, established characters, and control of the economy cannot accumulate indefinitely from one season to the next.
At the same time, persistent identity and achievement systems provide continuity between seasons without carrying material advantages into the new world.
PvE and Seasonal Features
UO Seasons is a PvE shard.
The underlying PvE ruleset remains consistent across seasons, but the contents of an individual season need not be identical to those that came before it.
New seasons may introduce different features, systems, encounters, themes, or other changes while remaining grounded in the same classic Ultima Online foundation.
Some seasons may remain relatively close to the traditional Publish 15 experience. Others may experiment with additional systems or mechanics.
These seasonal changes allow the shard to evolve without requiring players to abandon the fresh-start structure that defines UO Seasons.
Name Reservation and Identity
Overview
Seasons enforces strict name ownership at the account level while maintaining a single persistent identity per account for seasonal scoring.
Name Reservation
All character names created on an account are reserved for that account for the duration of the season.
- No other account may use any name that exists on your account
- This applies to every character on the account
Seasonal Identity
Each account has a single Seasonal Identity, which represents that account on the Seasons leaderboard.
The Seasonal Identity is defined as:
The name of the first character created on the account during the season
This identity is fixed for the duration of the season and does not change if additional characters are created.
Cross-Season Identity
At the start of a new season, each account inherits a Reserved Identity from the previous season.
This is defined as:
The Seasonal Identity from the previous season
This reserved identity:
- Remains bound to the account
- Cannot be used by other accounts
- Allows players to reclaim their established identity across seasons
Example
Account characters:
- Bob (first character created → Seasonal Identity, reserved across seasons)
- Mary (reserved for this account during the current season)
- Fullerton (reserved for this account during the current season)
Result:
- No other account may use "Bob", "Mary", or "Fullerton" during the season
- "Bob" remains reserved to this account in future seasons
- "Mary" and "Fullerton" are only reserved for this account within the current season
Seasonal Points and Awards
UO Seasons uses a persistent point system to track long-term player achievement across seasons.
Points are earned through gameplay by generating gold within the world. Activities such as player-versus-monster combat, bulk order fulfillment, treasure hunting, and other forms of active participation contribute to point accumulation.
Gold must be earned through gameplay systems. Direct transfers between players do not contribute to point totals.
Point generation is not a direct 1:1 conversion from gold. A baseline rate is established, approximately 200 gold per point for PvM activities, with scaling applied across other professions to provide comparable point generation through different styles of play.
Points persist across seasons and accumulate over time.
Points spent during a season are not permanently lost. They are automatically re-credited in subsequent seasons, allowing players to participate in seasonal rewards without sacrificing their long-term progression.
Seasonal rewards include statues, trophies, and other collectibles. The physical reward items do not survive a seasonal reset, but the points used to obtain them do. Players may therefore reacquire rewards or progress toward higher-tier awards in subsequent seasons.
A persistent leaderboard tracks point achievement across seasons, providing long-term recognition without carrying wealth, equipment, or other material advantages into the next season.
Collecting Your Awards
Seasonal Points can be exchanged for rewards using the Seasonal Awards system.

Important: The video states that players are capped at 1,000 Seasonal Points per season. This information is outdated. There is currently no Seasonal Point cap.
Classic UO Foundation
UO Seasons is designed around Publish 15-era Ultima Online.
Creature placement has been carefully aligned with era-appropriate locations, and loot tables have been reconstructed to reflect historical OSI behavior as closely as practical.
This classic foundation remains consistent even when an individual season introduces additional features or systems.
A limited number of quality-of-life enhancements and shard-specific encounters may also be present, including:
- Passive Animal Taming (see Skills)
- Additional champion encounters, such as Pirate and Azothu
The objective is not to reproduce every historical limitation of Publish 15, but to preserve the recognizable mechanics, progression, and character of that era as the foundation upon which individual seasons are built.
Staff-Hosted Events
UO Seasons emphasizes player-driven gameplay.
Staff-hosted events are limited and are intended to complement the world rather than serve as a primary means of progression.
Donations
The Angel Island family of shards does not accept donations, sell in-game items, or offer pay-to-play or pay-to-win mechanics.
All shards are provided freely to players. Progress and achievement are determined through gameplay.
Why Play UO Seasons?
UO Seasons is designed for players who enjoy beginning again.
Each season restores the experience of a young Ultima Online world: new characters, a fresh economy, unclaimed housing, and opportunities that have not already been accumulated by established players.
The seasonal reset also creates room for experimentation. Players can try different characters, professions, strategies, and approaches knowing that the world itself will eventually begin again.
At the same time, Seasonal Identity and Seasonal Points provide continuity. The world resets, but recognition of the player does not have to.
Individual seasons may change.
The PvE foundation remains.
And every new season offers another fresh start.
Differences Between OSI (Publish 15) and UO Seasons
Notes:
- * Animal Taming additionally supports passive skill gain through active pet engagement.
- ** NPC shopkeepers do not purchase starting equipment.
