Fame and Karma

Fame

Fame is a measure of a player's positive reputation. It can be earned by performing good deeds, such as helping other players or slaying monsters.

Karma

Karma, on the other hand, is a measure of a player's alignment with the game's moral code. It can be affected by actions such as killing innocent NPCs or stealing from other players. A high karma score indicates that a player is good, while a low karma score indicates that a player is evil.

Both fame and karma are important aspects of Ultima Online, as they can affect a player's interactions with the game world and other players. Players who have high fame and karma scores are often respected by other players and may find it easier to make friends and join guilds. Conversely, players with low fame and karma scores may find it more difficult to interact with other players and may even become targets for other players to attack.

Titles

Your fame and karma is apparent to other players who, by weight of your actions, determine what your title will be. Whether they refer to you as a scoundrel, or as a Lord or Lady, will depend strictly on your behavior in the game world.

As your level of Fame and Karma increase or decrease, your given title will change:

Good Honorable Admirable Noble Noble Lord/Lady

Locking Karma

On Siege Perilous, Karma becomes locked once a negative action is performed. In order to unlock it (so that it may be gained once more) you must visit a shrine and speak the corresponding mantra depending on which shrine you are at:
