==Introduction==
The Kin Faction alignment system is designed to assist in PvP and RP.


The Faction System is a broad game system designed to promote organized player conflict within the society of Britannia. The fundamental goal of the conflict is to provide a foundation for player conflict based upon meaningful and contextual combat and conflict-related interactions. The system is designed to encourage the inclusion of a wide array of player types through the use of game mechanics that appeal to a broad set of play-styles.
Kin alignment is guild-based. The Guildmaster of each guild must decide whether to align their guild with a Kin Faction and which faction to choose. As a member of a Kin Faction, you will flag as an enemy (orange) worldwide to members of all opposing kin-aligned guilds. Like-aligned player Kin will not be flagged ally (green) unless they are in the same guild or an allied guild. Like-aligned NPC mobs will appear green, as they are your allies and will not attack you.

Minax is one of the two "evil" aligned Factions. They follow the evil mage Minax, who is a great villain in the history of Sosaria. They are based in a mountain stronghold north of Destard.

The Council of Mages is one of the two "hero" aligned Factions. They follow the teachings of Lord British. Their base is the Magincian Parliament Building, located in the City of Magincia.
A Message will inform you when you enter a Kin Faction stronghold. Regardless of whether or not you are kin-aligned, if an attack that results in your death starts in a stronghold, or if you die in a stronghold (no matter where you were first attacked), you will not be able to report your attacker as a murderer.

The Council of Mages is one of the two "hero" aligned Factions. They follow the teachings of Lord British. Their base is Lord British's castle, in the city of Britain.
Aggressing your own kin or helping someone in combat with your kin, will cause you to be outcast from your kin for a certain amount of time. This means that kin of your alignment will attack you on sight and everyone in the kin system can still freely attack you.


===The Shadowlords===
Casting beneficial spells on anyone in the Kin system will flag you as an interferer for 24 hours. You will be freely attackable by anyone else in the Kin system.


Minax is one of the two "evil" aligned Factions. This Faction worships the wraith-like, demonic entities known as Shadowlords. They are based in the crypts, east of Yew.

To join a faction, travel to the faction's base of operations and use the faction join stone, which is usually located at the faction base entrance. If you are a member of a guild, you may not join a faction yourself. Instead, the guild master must join that faction, causing all members of the guild to be enrolled in that faction.

Upon joining a faction, you are automatically enrolled in the "Ethics" system. There are two Ethics factions: Hero and Evil. The True Britannians and The Council of Mages are Hero aligned. Minax and The Shadowlords are Evil aligned.

By defeating opposing ethics players you gain Life Force. You may also gain a small amount of Life Force by killing opposing faction creatures. You may use Life Force to cast special Hero/Evil abilities. Open the Ethics ability menu by saying "I invoke my good powers" (for heroes)  or "I invoke my evil powers" (for evils).

Kin Factions

The Kin Faction alignment system is designed to assist in PvP and RP.

Kin alignment is guild-based. The Guildmaster of each guild must decide whether to align their guild with a Kin Faction and which faction to choose. As a member of a Kin Faction, you will flag as an enemy (orange) worldwide to members of all opposing kin-aligned guilds. Like-aligned player Kin will not be flagged ally (green) unless they are in the same guild or an allied guild. Like-aligned NPC mobs will appear green, as they are your allies and will not attack you.
