Evaluating Intelligence allows you to roughly gauge how much intelligence the target has and roughly how much mana they have.

Evaluating Intelligence gives a boost to Magery spell damage (except Mind Blast). The formula is EvalInt / 5 = Damage % bonus.
When it comes to wizard duels, often the winner is determined by the mages ability to estimate their opponents level of mana points to spend on casting their spells. Evaluating Intelligence allows you to roughly gauge how much intelligence your target has.
