Orcish Kin Mask

The Orcish Kin Mask is provided to every new character on Upheaval. While worn, it disguises the wearer as Orcish Kin, allowing the player to move among Orcish occupation forces without being attacked.

A Disguise, Not an Alignment

Wearing an Orcish Kin Mask does not make a player Orc-aligned.

The mask is a disguise. It causes Orcish occupation forces to recognize the wearer as one of their own for purposes of movement and aggression, but it does not grant the benefits of true Orc alignment.

Players who wish to become truly Orc-aligned must join or create a guild and align that guild with the Orcs. Once properly aligned, the mask is no longer required.

Followers

The protection provided by the Orcish Kin Mask applies only to the wearer.

It does not extend to:

  • Pets
  • Mounts
  • Escorts
  • Hirelings
  • Other followers

Orcish occupation forces may therefore attack a player's followers even while ignoring the masked player.

This differs from true Orc guild alignment. When a player is properly Orc-aligned, their followers are also recognized appropriately by the Orcish forces.

Other Orc-Aligned Activities

The Orcish Kin Mask does not substitute for guild alignment when participating in activities that specifically require Orc alignment.

For example, wearing the mask alone does not qualify a player for alignment-specific interactions associated with the struggle for control of Britannia.

Summary

The Orcish Kin Mask lets you look like an Orc to the Orcs. It does not make you one of them.

For full Orc alignment and its associated benefits, you must align your guild with the Orcs.
