◄ Back to Skills Overview

General Information

Remove trap is used to safely open trapped containers, such as treasure chests.

On Angel Island, Remove Trap works in conjunction with the Detect Hidden skill in order to determine your success rate when removing traps.

Training

Skills to start with and resource requirements:

  • Lockpicking: 50
  • Tinkering: 50
  • Carpentry: Buy up 30 +/-
  • Train Detect Hidden: 63 (or 64) and LOCK IT, Do not raise it any more. (You can go a little higher if you can't train RT high enough, see notes.)
  • Remove Trap: 30 +/- (as high as possible)
  • Collect around 1.5-2k ingots and 1-1.5k Bolts

How to train:

1. Make a crate
2. Tinker tools, crate, ingots and bolts in pack.
(make a macro for the following)
3. Set dart trap on crate using tinker tool
4. Use remove trap
5. Repeat
6. Once tinkering is at 90 (real), lower Detect Hiden to 50 and lock (by raising junk skills). You dont need to raise tinkering anymore.

Notes:

The reason you have to start with 63 to 64 Detect Hidden (DH) is because a tinker trap has what is called TRAP POWER from 1 to 15. Starting with 63 DH will lower the trap power enough so you can be succesful when starting at 32 Remove Trap (RT). So you may need to go higher if you can't find anywhere to train as high as 32 Remove Trap.

Once you get started your RT will slowly start to rise. At some point its possible for your RT will get to close to your tinkering skill. You want your tinkering skill to stay in front of RT by 6 or 7 full skill points. So stop your macro and make lockpicks to raise your tinkering. Dont forget about the skill point timer once you get to 80 RT!

Now that you have GM'd remove trap, it's time to GM detect hidden. You will need detect hidden to be able to remove traps on the higher level chests.
