• [bug fix] Music System:
    1. Fixed a bug in skill gain that was allowing players to advance skills too quickly.
    2. Recalibrated a couple of players' skills back to normalized levels.
    3. Skill gain should be much slower now.
    Here is how it works:
When composing, line length + complexity generates points. So 1 note is one point. Using Math Algebra adds an additional .5 points per use.
The points are then passed through a transformation stage that degrades them based on your current skill level. At low skill, there is almost no degradation, and higher levels, degradation increases,
Then, a decision is made as to whether you get the points: It is a one-in-N+M chance you will get the gain. N is a constant value, say 10. M is the number of times you have played this same line. So each time you play the same line, your chance at a gain drop.
  • [bug fix] Fix a bug that was preventing players with low or no Music Karma to play songs with sound effects. (Music Karma should only affect the composition phase, not the playback phase.)
  • [content] Throwable Roses:
Like the Rotten Tomatoes, you can now buy Throwable Roses to throw at the feet of someone as an act of appreciation.
You will find both of these items on the Farmer NPC.
(Bring plenty of each to Battle Of The Bards 2 competition.)
  • [content] Added [emote command
You can now emote with sound!
This too will be perfect for the Battle Of The Bards 2 competition coming up on the 5th
    *applause*
  • Disallow Composers from gaining points (or Fame or Karma) from sales to alts (characters on accounts which you share.)
  • Added new [play MusicKarma command:
You can use this command to learn what your Music Karma is.
  • Fame and Karma for composers:
The MusicBox publishing system now awards Fame and Karma for Sales, Plays, and Publication.
Note: I will be removing/reducing awards for Publication as I don't want to motivate players to submit junk.
It should also be noted, Points gained through the Publishing System are not degraded like the Points of the Composition System (mentioned above.)
So publication (and sales, and plays,) become important in advancing your skill once you reach the highest skill levels (since point gains through composition will be so small.)
